Taser's Response to Canada incident

"This tragic incident appears to follow the pattern of many in-custody deaths. Historically, medical science and forensic analysis has shown that these deaths are attributable to other factors and not the electrical discharge of the TASER® system. Specifically in Canada, while previous incidents were widely reported in the media as "TASER deaths," the role of the TASER device has been cleared in every case to date – including the widely publicized Bagnell in-custody death in Vancouver where the TASER device was cleared by an inquest jury. Cardiac arrest caused by electrical current is immediate. This video indicates that the subject was continuing to fight well after the TASER application. This continuing struggle could not be possible if the subject died as a result of the electrical current causing cardiac arrest. His continuing struggle is proof that the TASER device was not the cause of his death."

"Medical and law enforcement experts and independent comprehensive reports from the governments of Canada, United Kingdom and the U.S. have concluded that TASER technology is among the most effective and safest use-of-force intervention available to law enforcement officers.

TASER devices have reduced injuries to suspects by up to 70% and saved thousands of lives."

Discovery Channel

On Thursday, November 29th at 9:00p.m. (MST) the Discovery Channel will air a “Non-Lethal Special” episode of Future Weapons which will include TASER. This is the second episode of the shows third season and the part on TASER covers our company background (as told by Rick S.), the X26 as a current device in use by military and law enforcement, and the XREP as a future use-of-force option for the military and law enforcement.

In July, we spent a day in Roswell, NM with the Future Weapons film and production crew shooting the footage for this episode and at the end of the day, everyone on the set made it a point to tell us how impressed they were with our company and that our TASER technology and devices are one of the greatest advancements in modern day weapons.

This is a great compliment considering that these people’s jobs revolve around evaluating and documenting the newest technologies and devices for military and law enforcement use.Episode 2 "Non-Lethal Special" : Premieres Nov. 22 at 11:00 p.m. ET/PTFutureWeapons reveals the incredible science and technology behind the amazing weapons that can defeat the enemy without using lethal force. First, Mack takes on a terrorist hideout using the very latest stun munitions. Next, he sees how TASER® 's newest devices have been configured for use by the military and then explores the prototype technology of Beretta's super-smart baton round. Plus, Mack gets to see the newly developed, vehicle-stopping device that uses a high-tech net to stop suicide bombers.
